Waisbren Medicine is a traditional, private medical practice, providing services to patients in southern New Jersey. We provide both primary adult medical care and cardiology specialty care. At Waisbren Medicine, we strive to make a difference in the lives of our patients. When you become a primary care patient, you will receive a thorough initial evaluation, allowing us to establish a comprehensive medical record that you can access at any time. Dr. Waisbren attended the University of Wisconsin and is a graduate of Tufts Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts. He served a medical clerkship in Oxford, England, with Dr. Paul Beeson, and a cardiovascular clerkship in Houston, Texas, with Dr. Michael DeBakey. He then served his internship and medical residency at Boston City Hospital. Dr. Waisbren received his advanced cardiovascular training at the Cornell – New York Hospital Medical Center in New York City. He is board certified in both internal medicine and cardiovascular diseases, and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology.

Dr. Waisbren is affiliated with other physicians, who may, at times, be available. However, with few exceptions, all primary care and all cardiac specialty care is provided by Dr. Waisbren.

Would I have to receive medical care from a nurse practitioner or physician's assistant

No. All medical care is provided by the doctor.

What insurance plans are accepted?

Most insurance plans are accepted. These include Horizon Blue Cross, Medicare, AmeriHealth Administrators, most Medicare Advantage plans, and most PPOs and HMOs.

Do I need a referral to see Dr. Waisbren?

No. To save some time, if you are covered by a PPO or HMO, you should notify your insurance carrier, in advance, that you are selecting Dr. Waisbren as your physician. The phone number, for such notification, is on your insurance card.

If I require hospitalization, where would I go?

Dr. Waisbren is affiliated with Cooper University Hospital Cape Regional, but he refers most patients to teaching hospitals in the greater Philadelphia area. For instance, for cardiac catheterizations and heart surgeries, he refers patients to The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. For vascular and thoracic surgery, he refers patients to Cooper University Hospital. For kidney and lung transplants, he refers patients to Temple University Hospital. For head and neck surgery, he refers patients to Jefferson University Medical Center. For cancer cases, he refers patients to MD Anderson Cancer Center.

Does the office provide care to children?

In general, the minimum age for a patient is 16. However, younger patients with a history of congenital heart disease are also accepted by the doctor.

What if I need blood tests?

Labcorp has a drawing station and an experienced technician in Dr. Waisbren’s office. Labcorp accepts all insurance types.

How long do I need to wait to see Dr. Waisbren?

We have a strict policy of minimal waiting. Patients can see the doctor within a few days of their call. Alternatively, patients are also free to walk in, without an appointment.

Do you have extended hours?

The office is open at 6:00am, Mondays through Thursdays, to accommodate patients who need to get to work.
